Sparta the Mean Kitty

The videos above are from YouTube, and feature Sparta. Click on them to watch these clever videos his owner has posted on YouTube. He is an Egyptian Mau, though he looks like a Bengal. (Bengals are a cross between an Asian Leopard cat and a domestic shorthair). In one video, you'll notice how Sparta fetches. (it's because they are VERY smart). I Hope you enjoy these short clips.

(PS. Sometimes weird videos will appear. Refresh the browser until the kitties show up).

Local News: Bicyclist Killed

SPOKANE, Wash.- Police are investigating after a bicyclist was hit and killed by a pickup truck in the intersection of Sprague and Division at around 6:40 Monday evening.
The victim was transported by ambulance to the hospital with critical injuries, where he was later pronounced dead. Police are not releasing his identity until next of kin can be notified.
Police say after the collision the driver of the pickup initially ran from the scene, but then later returned.
The collision is still under investigation. Police say the driver of the pickup may have been under the influence of alcohol. The pickup's driver was arrested and is facing charges of vehicular manslaughter.
The intersection was closed for nearly four hours while the accident reconstruction team investigated the collision.
So sad...It's about time that people who hurt others with a vehicle, while under the influence, are held accountable. The law needs to reflect that in the sentencing and penalty phase also. The penalties are too lenient. In my world a LONG incarceration would help to influence those who drink and drive to think harder before getting behind the wheel when intoxicated. I think that vehicular manslaughter is no different than using a firearm to commit murder.

Senator Jim Bunning (R) Kentucky

Just look at this doofus. These old guys who live for their government jobs, ought to be put out to pasture and retired. Fat cats, who don't give a hoot about the problems they cause for their partisan idiocy. The people of Kentucky ought not to elect guys like this. Too bad he's not up for re-election

Susan Smith

FILE - In this Friday, July 28, 1995 file photo, Susan Smith is escorted from the Union County Courthouse after the jury delivered a verdict of life in prison. Smith was convicted last week of the drowning deaths of her two sons Alex and Michael. Circuit Judge Lee Alford plans to throw out Susan Smith's request for a new trial unless the South Carolina mom convicted of leaving her two young sons in her car to drown in 1994 can come up with better arguments.

Why is this woman even alive? Why wasn't she sentenced to death for the murder of her two children? In my world she should have been hanged on the courthouse steps. I'm a strong believer that laws ought to be enacted to include the death penalty for crimes against children. I mean she wasn't crazy, just selfish. But hey, that's just me.

Advantages of Adopting An Adult Dog

Some of you may be considering getting a new puppy. Elizabeth Wasserman tells about the advantages of maybe adopting an adult dog instead of a puppy. I've never owned a dog, but have adopted cats, both as kittens and as adults. I'll have to admit that it is quite a bit easier to adopt an adult cat, but I also have enjoyed raising my cats from kittens. I guess it's personal preference. With dogs though, I anticipate that it might be more difficult having to train a puppy. This article might help you decide what's best for you. A few of the topics addressed are:
  Housebreaking
  Training
  Energy level
  Socialization
  Temperament and size
  Spaying or neutering

Have you heard this guy sing? I am a fan of his. His unique style brings new life to his remakes of the greats crooners of the 20th century. He is also a songwriter who has written hit songs for other artists. When he has recorded the same songs, they also become hits songs. He is Canadian, and is just beginnig to become well known in the United States. I recommend that you listen to some of his songs. They're great.
