Sparta the Mean Kitty

The videos above are from YouTube, and feature Sparta. Click on them to watch these clever videos his owner has posted on YouTube. He is an Egyptian Mau, though he looks like a Bengal. (Bengals are a cross between an Asian Leopard cat and a domestic shorthair). In one video, you'll notice how Sparta fetches. (it's because they are VERY smart). I Hope you enjoy these short clips.

(PS. Sometimes weird videos will appear. Refresh the browser until the kitties show up).

It's FRIDAY!!

Well today is Friday...I had a good week.  I got my little baby boy kittie Wednesday, though I still haven't named him.  Got any suggestions?  Am leaning towards "Putzie"..lol .
I'm anticipating a quiet weekend, and hope all of you have a nice weekend too.  Drive safe, Play safe, and always beware of the Crazies that walk among us.  Perform a random act of kindness for someone, and tell your children that you love them.  See you Monday.

This my new baby..all black.  Very small, very active and very dependent.  He follows me everywhere and is quite the talker.

Suicidal Man Crashes Plane

(CNN) -- The remains of two people have been found in an Austin, Texas, building where a man crashed a small plane, authorities said.
The identities of the two dead people have not been confirmed, the Austin Fire Department said in a statement. Two other people who were injured in the incident were taken to a hospital, and 11 others were treated for minor injuries, Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo said.
Authorities said Andrew Joseph Stack III, 53, an Austin resident with an apparent grudge against the Internal Revenue Service, set his house on fire Thursday and then crashed a Piper Cherokee PA-28 into the building, which houses an IRS office with nearly 200 employees, federal officials said.  Read More: Source/CNN  Plane Crash
Evidently this guy was very troubled.  I can understand the frustration one might feel when trying to negotiate with a bureaucratic government intstitution like the IRS, but to cause pain, suffering, and death to innocent people, is just beyond me.  What is WRONG with people (one of my favorite sayings).  Promise that if you get overwhelmed, and can't handle life, that you seek professional help BEFORE you hurt others, including yourself, (though that's preferrable in my book, than hurting others).

Just what was this guy thinking? Did he think that he wouldn't get caught? Another indication of the intellect level manifested in the next generation.

Girl's Arrested For Doodling Raises Concerns About Zero Tolerance
By Stephanie Chen, CNN
CNN) -- There was no profanity, no hate. Just the words, "I love my friends Abby and Faith. Lex was here 2/1/10 :)" scrawled on the classroom desk with a green marker.
Alexa Gonzalez, an outgoing 12-year-old who likes to dance and draw, expected a lecture or maybe detention for her doodles earlier this month. Instead, the principal of the Junior High School in Forest Hills, New York, called police, and the seventh-grader was taken across the street to the police precinct.  Alexa's hands were cuffed behind her back, and tears gushed as she was escorted from school in front of teachers and -- the worst audience of all for a preadolescent girl -- her classmates.
"They put the handcuffs on me, and I couldn't believe it," Alexa recalled. "I didn't want them to see me being handcuffed, thinking I'm a bad person."
Alexa is no longer facing suspension, according a spokeswoman for the New York City Department of Education. Still, the case of the doodling preteen is raising concerns about the use of zero tolerance policies in schools.  Read More: Source/CNN  Doodle Arrest
Unbelievable...We go from NOT disciplining children when they need it, to this.  What is WRONG with people.  I'd be embarrassed for anyone to know I was the STUPID person who came up with this kind of rule.  Geez....

Just Because...

I found these two photos on another blog and thought I'd share them with you.  One is taken by troops on deployment (Wonder how they did it), and the other, well I don't know where that place is at.

Controversy With "Idol's" Top 24

For my friend, Idol Ultrafan Gary...
We once again have a Lambert on “American Idol.”
The remaining top 24 were revealed on Wednesday night and Alex Lambert (apparently no relation to Adam) made it through along with Lacey Brown, Crystal Bowersox, Janell Wheeler, Katie Stevens, Michelle Delamore, Siobhan Magnus, Lilly Scott, John Park, Joe Munoz, Ashley Rodriguez, Haeley Vaughn, Paige Miles, Tyler Grady, Jermaine Sellers, and Andrew Garcia.
And since “Idol” wouldn’t be “Idol” without some controversy, contestant Chris Golightly, who made it into the Top 24, was replaced at the last minute by contestant Tim Urban (who I’m going to go out on a limb here and say is not related to Keith). According to a press release from Fox, it was determined that Golightly was ineligible to continue in the competition.
Fellow Hollywood week contender Samantha Musa tweeted that she had spoken to Golightly – who touched hearts with his back story of being in foster care – about his disqualification.
“He was disqualified yesterday, after already being told he was in the top 24, over some bogus old contract,” Musa tweeted on Wednesday. “The contract expired, but they disqualified him for not telling them.”  Read More:  Source/CNN  Idol Controversy

Cat Medications

Are Generic Drugs Safe for Cats
by Nicholas Lansing/Studio One Networks/The Daily Cat
Lily, a mature black-and-white feline, meowed constantly and ate voraciously yet never seemed to gain weight. After several tests, results showed that Lily was suffering from hyperthyroidism, a thyroid gland disorder. The treatment options seemed like night and day in terms of cost: an expensive brand-name drug or a pocketbook-friendly generic version. For Lily's elderly, budget-conscious owner, the choice was clear.
Lily wound up taking a drug called Methimazole, the generic version of a brand-name medication named Tapazole. The cost difference? $4 a month for the generic version instead of $60 a month for the branded product. Nevertheless, Lily's owner was concerned by the safety of "generic." I know it's very important to know what kind of drugs your animals might have to take.  From first hand experience, I know that some drugs are even less expensive if purchased over the counter instead of through your vet.  Be very careful though, and educate yourself about dosages, etc. and never never give your cat aspirin.
