Today is Monday, and it'll be a quiet day for me. I have been expecting an addition to my kitty family, but my acquisition was delayed so that my newest boy kitty could spend an extra week with his mama. He was the runt in a litter of seven, so with his larger brother and sisters gone, he'll get the sole benefit of mama's milk. I'm looking forward to getting him. Later, this evening I'll be bowling on a league with friends. It's our 6th or 7th year bowling together (can't remember which-must be old age creeping up). We're all rather average bowlers but are in position 6 out of almost 30. We all wonder how that's possible....
I hope that everyone has a nice President's Day. Do something fun, Cook something special, or just get that nap that you never seem to have time for and we'll see you tomorrow.

Sparta the Mean Kitty
The videos above are from YouTube, and feature Sparta. Click on them to watch these clever videos his owner has posted on YouTube. He is an Egyptian Mau, though he looks like a Bengal. (Bengals are a cross between an Asian Leopard cat and a domestic shorthair). In one video, you'll notice how Sparta fetches. (it's because they are VERY smart). I Hope you enjoy these short clips.
(PS. Sometimes weird videos will appear. Refresh the browser until the kitties show up).

War Dogs
War Dogs Remembered, Decasdes Later
By Jessica Ravitz, CNN
(CNN) -- Maybe it was the sound of the wind cutting through the wire. Perhaps he caught a small vibration with his keen eyes. Or it could have been a slight difference in the air's smell.
Whatever it was, when Sarge noticed that his Marine Corps handler, Fred Dorr, was creeping down the wrong path in the Vietnam jungle, the German shepherd did something he'd never done out in the field: He looked at Dorr and barked, before taking a seat.
"When he sat down, I knew there was a trip wire. I was one step away from it," remembered Dorr, who with his dog in 1969 was "walking point," leading the way for a dozen soldiers. Had the hidden explosive device been tripped, "It would have gotten half of us."

This is a great story. It's just sad that so many have died in the service of our country, sometimes in the place of our servicemen. What dedication these dogs had. They are truly American Heroes.

Just another advertisement that my friend Gary sent to me. Remember these are from the 1930's and it seems that we sure had different values and ideas back then. as indicated by the message here.

A man is seen through a chain link fence walking past the Olympic cauldron at the XXI Olympic Winter Games in Victoria, Sunday, February 14, 2010. Members of the general public can not gain access to the cauldron sight.
Hope you've been keeping up with the Olympics. I have a lot of time during the day, and I'll be watching and posting some highlights that I am interested in. Look for them.
