The videos above are from YouTube, and feature Sparta. Click on them to watch these clever videos his owner has posted on YouTube. He is an Egyptian Mau, though he looks like a Bengal. (Bengals are a cross between an Asian Leopard cat and a domestic shorthair). In one video, you'll notice how Sparta fetches. (it's because they are VERY smart). I Hope you enjoy these short clips.

Local News: Retired MGM Lion Gets Double Root Canal

MEAD, Wash. – How do you move a 700-pound lion to the dentist? Carefully and only after two rounds of tranquilizers. Handlers at Cat Tales Zoological Park in North Spokane moved Zamba the lion to a special pen for the procedure Friday afternoon.
Zamba sheared-off two of his teeth on a wire fence about one month ago, according to Mike Wyche, executive director of Cat Tales.
"Ever since the tooth broke, we've started the process of putting today together," said Wyche.
A dentist and anesthesiologist were brought in to tranquilize the cat and perform two root canals for the cat Wyche says has a, "movie star smile."
Wyche says Zamba appeared in several commercials, TV specials and was the roaring MGM lion at the start of movies before retiring to Cat Tales approximately six years ago.
Doctors administered the first round of tranquilizers around 1 p.m. to Zamba, who refused to go to sleep. A second round was administered about 90 minutes later, prompting the giant cat to slump over after several minutes.
Seven people gently carried Zamba to the next door pen where the dentist performed the root canals.
The two procedures are expected to take at least two hours, according to Wyche who said Zamba should recover fully within a few days.

Couple Let Baby Starve to Death While Raising Virtual Baby Online

A Korean couple allowed their child to starve to death because of their addiction to raising a 'virtual' child in a Second-Life-style game online known as Prius, reports say.
Kim Yoo-chul, 41, and Choi Mi-sun, 25, would feed their three-month-old baby only when not at 12-hour-online sessions in a local internet cafĂ©. The pair were obsessed with raising their internet child, called Anima, resulting in the neglect of their unnamed real daughter.
After one such session in September the couple found their daughter dead and called police. An autopsy found the baby died from prolonged malnutrition.  Read More:  Source/Huffington Post  Baby Starvation
When will stupid people stop breeding. In my world, having children would be a privilege not a right. These people should be sentenced to death, for causing the death of a helpless human being. Plain and Simple.

Can Peanut Allergies Be Cured By...Eating Peanuts?

by adi Narayan/Time.com
In 2008, Gideon Lack of King's College London published a startling study comparing the rate of peanut allergies in children in London with that of children in Tel Aviv. The study of 10,000 Jewish children, which appeared in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, found that kids in the U.K. were almost 10 times as likely to have a peanut allergy as their peers in Israel, says Lack.
Why the disparity? Although Lack can't draw conclusive explanations from his observational study, he suggests that one reason may have to do with early exposure. In Israel, children are typically introduced to peanuts much earlier than in Europe and North America. Lack points to a popular Israeli snack food called Bamba (like peanut-flavored Cheez Doodles), which youngsters start eating as early as infancy. That early exposure may desensitize children to peanuts, even in kids with a family history of food allergies Read More:  Source/Time.com  Allergies
Wow...This article confirms what I always believed. Humans have the ability to develop immunities to lots of bugs, but exposure during developmental years is a requirement. Parents sometimes don't realize that overprotecting children can be detrimental to the development of their immune systems. Maybe pet allergies are the same....

Man OK After Steering Wheel Pops Off While Driving

ARLINGTON, Wash. (AP) - State troopers said a man is lucky to have only minor injuries when he crashed his car into a barn after his steering wheel popped off while driving. Trooper Keith Leary said the 59-year-old man was driving his 1978 Buick on Thursday afternoon on State Route 530 when his steering wheel came off, the car left the road, went down an embankment, up the other side, and crashed into a barn.
The man narrowly missed a power pole and several small barns with baby cows inside.
Rescuers said it's a miracle the man suffered only minor neck pain in the accident. The farm's owner said the car destroyed the farm's refrigeration and milking area and happened right as 140 cows were about to be milked.
This was funny, yet potentially so tragic...I have wondered in the past what I would do if this happened to me. I could just see the look on his face when it first happened.

Vatican Hit by Gay Sex Scandal

The Vatican has been thrown into chaos by reports that one of the Pope's ceremonial ushers, as well as a member of the elite Vatican choir, were involved in a homosexual prostitution ring.
The allegations came to light after Italian newspapers published transcripts of phone calls recorded by police, who had been conducting an unrelated corruption investigation.  Read More: Source/Huffington Post  Vatican
Just another reason I don't believe in Institutionalized Religion.  Such hypocrisy....Gay Priests...such an oxymoron. I don't believe there is anything wrong with being gay or with being a priest...It's just that the Catholic Church still believes the earth is flat, and that being Gay is Wrong. It's not a choice.

Movie Review: The Crazies

The Crazies Review: Don't Drink the Water
by Richard Corliss
Ogden Marsh, Iowa, is one of those remote towns even the flyovers don't fly over. But for decades its citizens' decency has matched the town's anonymity. Dr. Judy Dutton (Radha Mitchell) takes care of the births and the ordinary illnesses; her husband David (Timothy Olyphant), the local Sheriff, keeps the peace with the aid of his Deputy, Russell Clank (Joe Anderson). Nice town, y'know what I mean? Until that day during a school baseball game when Rory Hamill strode out of center field carrying a shotgun he wouldn't put down, and David had to shoot him dead. That caused a little stir. Then Bill Farnum locked his wife and son in their farmhouse and set the place on fire. Each of the perpetrators had this strange dead look on his face. Pretty soon, one by one, the good folk of Ogden Marsh were turned into psycho killers. The normals had become the crazies. And all because they drank the water.  Read More:  Source/Time.com  The Crazies
