Earthquake Rattles Illinois

(CNN) -- An early morning earthquake rattled northern Illinois on Wednesday, shaking an area about 50 miles west-northwest of downtown Chicago, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The quake was originally reported as having a magnitude of 4.3, but the USGS later downgraded it to magnitude 3.8. It hit just before 4 a.m. CT (5 a.m. ET), with an epicenter about 3 miles underground. The USGS pinpointed the quake between the towns of Virgil and Sycamore, Illinois.
Millions of people felt the temblor, with reports coming in to the USGS from Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Iowa and Wisconsin, as well as Illinois. Members of the public sent more than 10,000 reports of the earthquake to the USGS within the first few hours after it struck.

Kite Surfer Killed in Shark Attack

STUART, Fla. -- A kite surfer died Wednesday after a shark attack off Stuart Beach.The Martin County Sheriff's Office identified the victim as Stephen Schafer, 38, of Stuart. A lifeguard noticed Schafer, who appeared to be in distress, at about 4:15 p.m. Officials said he was in an unguarded area south of Stuart Beach. American Idol Update

Last night was the first night of Hollywood on this season of "American Idol," and it started off with a bang. Andrew Garcia took a big risk by doing an acoustic cover of Paula Abdul's "Straight Up" but it paid off in a major way.
Judge Kara DioGuardi called it "genius" and the crowd was whooping and clapping it up. It really was fantastic.

When a technician comes to my house, my next-door neighbor's friendly yet hyper dog often dashes outside. Goober jumps on the startled individual in the middle of the street -- I jumped too the first few times the large dog leaped on me. But a stern "No!" and "Sit!" calms him down and leads to "the look."

SEATTLE - The KING 5 Investigators have uncovered a disturbing video-tape captured on five different security cameras underneath downtown Seattle.
It shows the graphic beating of a teenage girl in Seattle's Metro bus tunnel, while uniformed security guards simply look on.

This is another fine example of the violence that can occur between STUPID people. The victim is only 15, and these were women. Seems that women are nastier fighters than men. Hoping that they will catch the perpetrators and sentence them to a little time in the slammer
