Sparta the Mean Kitty
The videos above are from YouTube, and feature Sparta. Click on them to watch these clever videos his owner has posted on YouTube. He is an Egyptian Mau, though he looks like a Bengal. (Bengals are a cross between an Asian Leopard cat and a domestic shorthair). In one video, you'll notice how Sparta fetches. (it's because they are VERY smart). I Hope you enjoy these short clips.
(PS. Sometimes weird videos will appear. Refresh the browser until the kitties show up).

IT"S FRIDAY
Well another week gone by. Time seems to fly, maybe because I'm a year older...I hope that everyone will have a nice weekend. Its looking like maybe we'll have snow on our Mountain, and that there will be another weekend of skiing before the weather really warms up. Do something fun, tell someone that you love them, and do a random act of kindness for someone you don't know. I promise you, it'll give you a great feeling that'll last all day. See you Monday, unless something spectacular happens, that would cause me to share....Oh yes...I am now 13 days as a non-smoker. It's been a challenge, but determination has won out.
60 Dogs Rescued From 2 Bedroom Home.
by Brian Flores, Fox5 San Diego
Animal control officers and local authorities arrested Alice Via, 65, on suspicion of cruelty to animals after discovering the 60 dogs in her home in rural East County.
"Living in squalid conditions -- they're kept in crates, basically from what we're told, 23 hours a day. They're left outside for maybe half an hour," said Dan DeSousa, a spokesperson for the county Animal Services Department.
Via lives on 11600 block of Moreno in Lakeside. The dogs were confined in crates stacked several high in various rooms of her approximately 750-square-foot house. They had plenty of food but lacked enough water, according to County Animal Services.
The majority of the dogs are Boxers, some Chihuahuas and a few other dog breeds, DeSousa said. All of the animals were taken to local animal shelters for treatment.
"Many of the dogs have skin conditions, upper respiratory disease or other illnesses,'' DeSousa said."In addition, most ... have injuries to their feet and noses from trying to escape from their crates.''
Via is in charge of an organization called San Diego Boxer Rescue and sheltered animals on her fenced-in property. Officials believe that she had good intentions in sheltering the dogs, but the situation spiraled out of control. "That's not the life for an animal, plain and simple."
Just an example of when good intentions go bad. My question is what WAS she thinking?

How Safe is Your Cell Phone?
...In March, Maine's legislature will begin debating a bill she submitted that would require manufacturers to put a warning label on every cell phone sold in the state declaring, "This device emits electromagnetic radiation, exposure to which may cause brain cancer." Her warning would continue, "Users, especially children and pregnant women, should keep this device away from the head and body." Read More: Source/Time.com Cell Phones
Mad Cow Disease Case Hidden For Weeks By Canadian and U.S. Agencies
On February 25, 2010, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) confirmed a recent case of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE), commonly known as Mad Cow Disease, in a 72 month-old cow. This case was detected through the national BSE surveillance program and was not made public on the CFIA website until March 10 -- hours after a press release was distributed by the advocacy group, Ranchers-Cattlemen Action Legal Fund, United Stockgrowers of America (RCALF USA).
"The CFIA said the BSE-positive case was confirmed Feb. 25, 2010, which means the CFIA and all other governments who knew about this latest BSE case kept it a secret from the public for almost two weeks," said R-CALF USA CEO Bill Bullard. "If we had not discovered this information, the public may never have known." Read More: Source Huffington Post Mad Cow Disease
Really makes you wonder how powerful the Beef Industries Lobby is if they can keep this hidden. You have to wonder why.

Plastic Surgery Horror
NEWARK, N.J. (Associated Press) -- Six women in New Jersey are recovering after they received buttocks-enhancement injections containing silicone used to caulk bathtubs.
State health officials say the women, from Essex County, apparently underwent cosmetic procedures from unlicensed providers, The Star-Ledger of Newark reported.
Investigators have not determined if the cases are related.
No arrests have been made. Instead of medical-grade silicone, the women received a diluted version of nonmedical-grade silicone. State epidemiologist Tina Tan says there's the risk for more serious complications when infections are not treated early.
EEEEEWWWW!!! The lengths people will go to in their quest for beauty...

Juanita Goggins Dead
Once-Revered SC Lawmaker Freezes To Death Alone
COLUMBIA, S.C. When Juanita Goggins became the first black woman elected to the South Carolina Legislature in 1974, she was hailed as a trailblazer and twice visited the president at the White House.
Three decades later, she froze to death at age 75, a solitary figure living in a rented house four miles from the gleaming Statehouse dome.
Goggins, whose achievements included key legislation on school funding, kindergarten and class size, had become increasingly reclusive. She spent her final years turning down help from neighbors who knew little of her history-making past. Her body was not discovered for more than a week. How sad that regardless of her fame, she died alone.

Mississippi School Sued For Cancelling Prom Over Lesbian Student
(CNN) -- A Mississippi high school faces a lawsuit over its decision to cancel its prom rather than allow a lesbian high school student to attend with her girlfriend.
The lawsuit, filed by the American Civil Liberties Union, alleges that officials at Itawamba Agricultural High School in Fulton, Mississippi, are violating the student's First Amendment right to freedom of expression.
The ACLU asked the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi to reinstate the prom. Read more: Source/CNN Prom
I know this probably has been read to death, but I wanted to throw my two cents worth in. When are those Southern Republican Religious 'better than thou's" gonna see the light and get with the program? What...are they stupid? Can't they see times are changing? WAKE UP!!!

Pedro Lourenco
19-Year-Old Designer, Presents Impeccable Collection In Paris
One of Paris Fashion Week's standout collections was designed not by a big fashion house or a well-established industry name, but by a 19-year-old Brazilian named Pedro Lourenço. According to Elle.com, Lourenço's parents are also designers. He started sewing as a toddler and he's been professional since age 12. He said that he's inspired by "Diana the huntress, and also the architect Oscar Niemeyer."
I wish him huge success.
